  6k expedition

Welcome to the 6k Expedition!

What is 6k Expedition? It is a climbing expedition in the Himalayan region, with the goal of helping the underprivileged children in Nepal.
Our expedition aims to reach two 6000m summits in 6 days:
 Lobuje Est (6119m, the most technically demanding of the trekking peaks) and Imja Tse (6189m, the highest of the trekking peaks).

Mission Statement:

Our goal is to help improving the education, health and living condition of helpless, poor and orphaned children in Nepal.

We believe that all the children should have an opportunity for a house, food and most of all an education. Education is, in fact, the key to break the cycle of poverty and have a chance for a self-sufficient life and a better future.

The collected money will be entirely devoted to charity. No part of it will be kept by the expedition members! We will work with the Ama-Foundation, a local non-profit organisation that is based in Nepal and in the United States. Here is their URL: http://www.ama-foundation.org. Donate and help!

Umberto Michelucci: expedition leader and organizer, climber, trekker;
Mountaineering is one of his great passions and he climbs as much as he can in the Alps. He has several 4000er and two 5000er under his belt. Climbing indoors, running uphill are only a few of his favorite pastimes.
He works in the IT-field and greatly helped with the realization of this web page.
Francesca Venturini: expedition organizer, climber, trekker.
She climb extensively in the Alps. Mountains and climbing take a great part of her free time. The rest is spent training. Running, climbing indoors, running uphill are only a few of her favorite pastimes. Together with Umberto (her husband) she has several 4000er and two 5000er under her belt.
Concetta Beneduce: trekker.
A real mountain lover she goes in the mountains as much as she can. Living in Switzerland she is in the perfect position to explore the heights of some of the most beautiful mountains in Europe.
Luigina Angioloni: trekker.
She has walked and trekked since she was a kid. Luigina really loves the mountains and coming to Nepal will fulfill a life long dream. As a social worker in the child-care field the problems of the poor living conditions of the children in underdeveloped countries are not new to her.

More coming soon!
