Friends, family
and loved ones,
Whether all members of team ‘We’ll Cho-Oyu’ would admit it or not, it has to
be said that a rest day is a welcome day indeed. To awake to the warm glow of
sunshine upon yellow North Face tent, is a wonderful way to welcome in a new
day.
Today, our team of six climbers have relished in the relaxing warmth of the
Tibetan sunshine and it has been a marvelous opportunity to ‘sort out‘ kit
(gear), stretch limbs, read books, create a clean tent, wash ones body (Oh!
The Wash!) I cannot describe how psychologically enhancing it is to have a
wash, when ones choice of underwear is dictated by its relative state of
cleanliness….
As underwear dried in the breeze and damp sleeping bags have aired on top of
tents, Kurt and I have cajouled team members into an interview, the aim of
which has been to capture the before (and later, after) climb. Meanwhile, an
innocent game of Uno tuned to a somewhat competitive match, the winner of
which is unclear. Although those of us observing suspect the Lakpa was the
quiet winner.
Team members are in good spirits and rude health and we are looking forward to
another rest day tomorrow .

Goldilocks)
