As per the report of
Handling Agency, the following one member of Manaslu Golden Jubilee
Expedition 2006 team died while descending from the summit by falling down
into the crevasse on 28th May 2006.
1. Ms.
Susan Erica Fear, ( 43 yrs.), Member, Trekking Guide, Australian.
The above
mentioned 9 members expedition team was permitted to climb 8163 meter high Mt.
Manaslu from normal route for the period of 75 days from 17th April, 2006
under the leadership of Mr. Chieko Shimada of Japan.
The Ministry of Culture,
Tourism and Civil Aviation expresses deep sorrow of the loss of life in the
Khumbu Region
Very sad news. Her home team is still
holding out hope and are reportedly sending a rescue team to the mountain.
Sue has summited Makalu, Cho Oyu and Everest along with many
other peaks...
In an amazing coincidence, or a weird twist of fate if you like, Sue had
recently published her book called Fear No Boundary - The Road to Everest and
Beyond. That book was written together with Lincoln Hall.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sue and her family for a safe return...
