Gonzalez-Rubio on the Summit K2 |
Dear Friends, I write to you from my tent at BC in Kanchenjunga.
Right now it is 12 thirty on Tuesday and thanks to the work of my friend and
partner Mauro Quito I have been able to read all the messages you have sent
to support and cheer me up on my new attempt to the summit of Kangchenjunga.
I thank everybody for taking the time, for writing
to me and for sending your messages with all the support that makes me feel so
good in these moments.
Caption: It was very difficult that night at
7,200. One suffers a lot when the body is lacking oxygen, the hours are
exaggeratedly long and it was very cold on top of that: it was 18 degrees
Celsius below zero inside the tent. This is what was left of my poor humanity
after twelve hours of harshness
Now I have all the spirit, enthusiasm and faith I
need to get to
8,596 m.
We have got the forecast that says there is good
weather from here until Saturday, so, and to be sure, we have thought that the
summit day will be Friday. Just now that I am listening to Juanes it occurs
to me to say that: I ask God to give us good weather and we put all the rest.
With my great love and enormous gratitude, a big
hug from my tent at BC in Kanchenjunga.
