At least 14 summited Everest including veteran guide Dave Hahn. Dave's
expedition to have Kit DesLauriers become the first woman to ski from Everest
Summit is a success, while Kit did not do a complete ski descent and therefore
those press agents need to be careful with those claims... The humble Hahn
summited again with his clients, Kit, her husband Rod and veteran climber
Jimmy Chin all did a partial ski descent adding to the several climbers in the
last few years who has done so. Korean climbers were also on the mountain, but
details are unknown. All were attempting the standard route from the south
side. The 3000 plus Everest summits continue to grow....
On October 7, 2000, It was a historical day for Slovenian.
Davo Karnicar, of Jezersko,
Slovenia, accomplished an uninterrupted ski descent from the top of the
world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (8,848m). At 8 a.m. local time
(4.15 CEST), Davo started his historical ascent,
fulfilling his longtime dream to which he had aspired since 1996 when a
snowstorm halted his efforts. In only five hours, Davo skied
uninterruptedly (without taking skis off) from the top of the mountain to base
camp at 5,340m. Davo has one more to complete skiing the seven summits... Davo
also climbed and skied Annapurna, which is a bit harder than other other
summits... :)
When we meet Dave Hahn earlier this summer, he
said his team wanted to go without press and enjoy the climb. Good job! No
doubt Dave will be back in spring 2007...
