Sources to report to EverestNews.com that Teodors Kirsis has died on Mt Cook.
A very sad day in the world of Mountaineering.Teodors
Kirsis, a Latvian, was born on November 25th 1942 in Jelgava. He was born as a
refugee World War II. He was a nice man, a scientist and university lecturer,
mountain-climber, Commander of the Order of Three Stars (1996)... A friend to
EverestNews.com. A very sad day in the world of Mountaineering.
He climbed the 7 Summits as one of the members of Latvian
national teams, lead by Teodors (incl. Everest, Denali and Vinson). He
finished the Seven summits with Kosciusko at 59 years and 47 days.
Sadly his daughter died with him on Mt Cook...
