2nd dispatch from Wilco: Two days before departure

We will say goodbye to everybody in Holland on Thursday March 25th. We fly
from Amsterdam to Kathmandu via London and Abu Dhabi.
Rex Snelder, Ron Doorakkers and Wilco van Rooijen have almost finished the
final preparations. The gear, weight 600 kilograms, has been sent to Kathmandu
via DHL. We expected everything will be available for us to pick it up as soon
as we arrive. But the latest reports are not positive.
The boys have been exercising until last weekend. It should be enough for
now and we are already saying goodbye to family and friends.
We had a meeting with all the sponsors to inform them about the latest
updates. At this meeting Ron demonstrated how to climb steep ice. The sponsors
also were able to try it themselves on a real, 12 meter tall, icefall,
indoors. We also went to our main sponsor where the three of us climbed on a
mobile climbing wall. The last technical issues with the laptop computers and
the satellite phones have been solved and tested. We will be able to send
e-mail messages from our basecamp in Tibet.
Basically everything is according to the plan and nothing can stop us from
leaving.
We plan to send updates from time to time to our 3000 subscribers to the
newsletter. The latest news: our expedition will be on Dutch television on Mai
29th, June 5th and June 12th.
Wilco, Rex and Ron.
