Earlier today we
received this report from the expedition. It was Stian
Voldmo who called us, via satellite. The connection was
bad, but he managed to get this through:

"...After all the
members of the expedition arrived safely in Katmandu,
the preparations for the expedition continued. This was
done in a record breaking time, and we was airlifted to
Tumlingtar, Tuesday 23. march.
We have been trekking
for 8 days, and it has been a hard trek. We are at this
moment, about 4-5 days of trekking from Basecamp. During
this trek, we have experienced tropical heat in the
jungle, and bad weather over snowy mountains. We also
ran into the Maoists. After some dealing, we now have a
written contract with them, and they didn't want any
payment to leave us alone. Thanks!
At the most, we have engaged over 80
carriers, but this numbers is decreasing as we go along. Mick from Australia
sends his best to his Pyton-snake, he misses it alot.....
The Czech trekkers are leaving us tomorrow,
we wish them a nice trip home! We are all in good shape, and sends our
greetings back home!...."
