Update: Dear EverestNews.com, I just talk with Bill visited my office, in Rawalpindi, Fabrizio Zangrilli and Hamish Robertson are still in the mountain trying to make final attempt along with Kazakhs.

Update: Today the K2 expedition is leaving base camp via Gondogoro la to Skardu. NO further information of success

Update American Fabrizio Zangrilli, Billy Pierson and Australian Hamesh Robertson and Mick Parker (who join the expedition 20 or more days later) are planning to make the final summit attempt on Sunday 7 August. The expedition has called porters on 10 of August for the return trek.

Background: The expedition has 6 members Fabrizio Zangrilli - Leader climbed Shishapangma and GII and many more peaks and also unsuccessful attempt on K2 in 2000, Nanga Parbat, and Everest/ Bill Pearson climbed K2 in 2000 if he climbs again the K2 he will be the third person in the world to climb K2 twice, also Billy summited Makalu, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma. Hamesh Robertson climbed Makalu, Fred Barth climbed Everest and GII, David Schipper climbed Cho Oyu and Mike Parker who will join them in later date climbed Broad Peak in 2003 and now is climbing in Nepal.

This strong team is plan to stay at base for 40 to 50 days before return home in August.

Earlier Update: Fabrizio Zangrilli plans to lead an International team of climbers to K2 this summer working with Asghar Ali Porik. Fabrizio tells us the " Team going to the Abruzzi has space on the permit looking from 2- 4 climbers. The price is $4750, which includes everything unguided of course except fixed rope, high altitude gas, food, tents, oxygen & porters. Arriving in Islamabad June 01. Please contact for details.

Fabrizio Zangrilli was part of the succesful International 2000 K2 Expedition led by Gary Pfisterer that placed 6 climbers on the top, without the use of Sherpas or oxygen. Billy Pierson who summited in 2000 plans to return with Fabrizio for a try at a second summit of K2...
