Dear EverestNews.com, we hope
all is well. Our team has arrived in Everest basecamp. Yesterday (the 14th) we
practiced fixed rope climbing in the ice towers near basecamp. It was fun. The
weather has been beautiful. Today, Clay Clarke and four Sherpas went to camp 1
and setup a tent and made a gear depot. Our trekkers left today (all except
for Maja who will stay to the end of the expedition with Kay). They plan to
hike up Kala Patar and visit Chukkung and Phortse Thanka on the way down.
Melissa and Jenni decided to head lower (each with a sherpa) and miss out on
Kala Patar. They are looking forward to the thicker air. George Barlow felt
like he was getting Hape this morning, so he has decided to head down with two
Sherpas, in hopes of recovering at a lower elevation. Tomorrow 5 of us plan to
make a carry to camp 1 and set up more tents. Wish us Luck!
