Hello from Pheriche @ 13,900
feet above sea level! It's been an amazing 5 days of trekking so far. The
views have been breathtaking and the weather has been exceptional, also. We
got our first view of Mount Everest yesterday, which was awesome. We've also
seen Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and many other major Himalayan peaks. Tomorrow
we will camp at Lobuche which is at about 16,900 feet. It's going to be a
challenging and rewarding day on the trail. The next day we will make camp at
Pumori Base Camp! After spending the night there, we 4 trekkers may get the
opportunity to continue up to Advanced Base Camp. Next, we will head over to
Everest Base Camp for a visit before beginning our descending return trip. We
have a great group of people in the expedition from all over the world and
I've been enjoying meeting them. Our sherpa staff is an amazing bunch. They
work extremely hard getting our food and equipment transported to each camp,
and have been feeding us very well. They come to our tents in the morning and
hand us a nice hot cup of tea, which is very welcome. They then cook us a
hearty breakfast and give us a good bag lunch we eat on the trail. Then they
always have more tea for us when we get to the next camp and finish it off
with a full dinner. Time to sign of for now. Happy trekking! Bill Pollock, USA
