Pumori update: 2:30 am 26
March: The main rescue team is down in ABC, with Lakpa Sherpa and Tenzing
Sherpa. The rescue team is extremely exhausted after getting the sherpas down
the couloir. Tenzing Sherpa seems to be doing better. Lakpa Chiri is coughing
blood. The team will restart the rescue in a few hours, trying to get the
sherpas as low as quickly as possible. Dennis is in Camp 1 with Lakpa Kongle.
Dennis seems to be doing ok. They will go down to basecamp at first light.
Fortunately the good weather is holding. Hopefully a helicopter will be able
to reach the injured quickly, now that they are coming within range of the
highest altitude at which a helicopter could land and pick up passengers.
We send our concerns and
support to Dennis, Lakpa and Tenzing Sherpa, to all of the rescuers, to their
families, loved ones, friends and colleagues. Thanks for your prayers for
everyone's safety.
