Chinese BC: It's tea time at
Chinese BC. 4:00 pm and everyone is just getting out of their tents after a
couple of hours of napping or reading.
This morning we went on a
hike up valley following the western lateral moraine of the glacier that
extends from the historic Nangpa La pass bridging Tibet and Nepal. When we
make our move up to ABC we will follow the eastern lateral moraine eventually
leading to camp just northeast of the pass. We ended the hike on an
outcropping overlooking the glacier with clear views of Cho Oyu and the
surrounding 7,000 meter peaks.
Tomorrow we will hike directly above our BC here and try to reach about
18,000'. The weather has been warm and clear and everyone is feeling great. No
one needs to worry about us enjoying ourselves and laughing a lot- we're
certainly holding our own. We're looking forward to another excellent meal
from our cook Gopal tonight. The group's having a great time together and we
stayed up late last night chatting about skydiving and then later about how to
change the world. We got a good start.
