Alpine Ascents Cho Oyu 2005: Final

Update: September 27- Final Dispatch

Namaste everyone who's still watching. It's Tuesday and the team is ready to depart Kathmandu tomorrow.

We had a great celebration evening at the Tibetan discos in Zhangmu two nights ago. Everyone took their turn on the dance floor including Gopal and Tshering.

It was a wonderful expedition not only because of the summit but because the group had a lot of laughs and good times together. The last couple of weeks of an expedition the 'adult camp' really bonds in the best of conditions and that certainly happened with us. Tony, Suzanne, Mike and Kevin are all highly entertaining and intelligent. We missed Don on the summit speaking of intelligence. The crew did and excellent job as well with Lhakpa, Tshering, and Mingma fixing the rope for the season. We are all thankful that Mingma only ended up in the hospital for a few nights. Gopal once again was a phenom in the kitchen. And last but not least Lhakchung's mischevious smile always was welcome in the dining tent.

Here's to a great summit... and to more adventures.

All the best, Dave

Dear Family and Friends,
We have just received word from our team in Kathmandu. They crossed the border today from Tibet back to Nepal and are resting after their travels at the Yak and Yeti in Kathmandu.

Dave plans to send a message as soon as he can for a final wrap-up about this great expedition and team. He apologizes for not sending anything earlier, the laptop was packed up with all the gear and they were not able to send one yesterday or today.

The team would like to thank everyone for watching and supporting.

All our best,  The Staff at Alpine Ascents  Seattle, WA USA
