5/6/2002: Hello EverestNews.com, Some good news from
Spanish climbers. Yesterday 05/05/2002 4 Spanish
climbers from two different expeditions summitted Cho
Oyu 8201 meters via the normal route. Martin summited
at 11.00 h. local time with a Argentinean climber at
18:30 hours local time, high winds and snow
conditions. Also summiting were Fernando Garrido, Lito
and Fernando Rivero. Fernando Garrido, 43 years old,
is actually a climbing guide with a impressive solo
historical. 1985-1986 62 days at Aconcagua summit,

5/9/2002: Hello, This is Gerfried Goeschl from Austria!
On 5/3/2002 two brothers Rainer Wolfgang Goeschl and
Gerfried Goeschl reached the Summit of Cho Oyu. We
started from Camp 2 (7100m) 0:45 Nepali time, -30
degrees Celsius. There was bad weather and high winds.
We reached the real Summit at 9:05 Nepali time. It was
very, very cold. We were the second group to summit Cho
Oyu. The first group was Swiss Rupert Heider with two
Sherpas on 24.04.2002. On our summit day, one and a half
hour later one Korean (Chung Jang Keun) and two Sherpas,
one was named Pem Tensi Sherpa) reached the Summit. We
were climbing without help of Sherpas and supplimental
Oxygen. We were three members of Styria, Austria
expedition.
