The Sant
Cugat a l'Everest 2006 expedition the objective of getting to the summit, this
expedition will try get to the top the oldest and youngest Spanish persons
without oxygen. With this one, there are three Catalan expeditions who will
attempt to climb Everest next spring.
Vicenç
Sànchez was there representing the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de
Catalunya (FEEC or the Federation of Excursion Entities of Catalunya). There
were also the expedition members and Narcís Catanyer, the president of the
entity. During the presentation details of the expedition were presented.
They want
to take the oldest person to the summit, Antoni Pifarré, 67, and the youngest,
Martí Mañosas, 21, of Spain.
The chosen
route is the normal North Col via Tibet. This was the route of the first
Chinese climb in 1960. Initially they had chosen the Nepalese route, but the
high price and the unstable political situation in Nepal made some expeditions
chose the Chinese route.
The members
of the expedition are: Xavi Aymar, Joan Antoni Barril, Jordi Bosch, Josep M.
Casajuana, Joan Castanyer
Some of
them have experience in the Andes and the Himalayas.

A cold
weather, high altitude double boot for extreme conditions The Olympus
