Fiona signs her name on the Rumdoodle
signature board for Everest summiteers. |
Location: Kathmandu
Altitude: 1450m
Local Time: 9:30am, May 31
Weather: Overcast & humid
Hi it's Paul here.
We had a great night out in
Kathmandu yesterday, visiting the Rumdoodle restaurant. This is a place made
famous by its impressive collection of signatures of Everest summiteers, going
back as far as Edmund Hillary.
Adding names
Fiona, Dennis & Jim added their signatures to the list of climbers who have
summited Everest, and handed over two passport photos to became members of the
Rumdoodle club. This entitles them to free food for life at the restaurant. We
made good use of this perk last night!
Meeting other climbers
We met lots of other climbers there, and sitting on the rooftop in the cool
evening air, reminisced over stories of everyone's trip. It seemed that almost
all the climbers in Kathmandu were here. It was great to meet climbers from
the North side too, and hear their stories. They had it a bit more luxurious
than us, as they can get vehicles to base camp, and yaks to the equivalent of
our camp 2.
Flights home
Still waiting for confirmation of flights home - if we are going to get the
flight today we need to leave for the airport in about 1 hour!
All packed and ready to go,
Paul.
