As per the report from Liason Officer and Team Leaders, three Sherpa climbers named Ang Phinjo Sherpa, Lakpa Tseri Sherpa and Dawa Temba Sherpa of Solukhumbu were burried under ice debris in the upper Khumbu icefall of Mt. Everest on April 21, 2006 when an ice fell over them at 7 a.m. at the altitude of 5630 meter.

Rescue work was conducted immediately by many climbers on the way but could not find their whereabouts in which other three Sherpas with minor injuries could be assisted to bring to base camp.

Ang Phinjo was working for Great Escapes trekking and the expedition team named '2006 IMG everest Expedition' led by Justin Resse Merle of USA while other two Lakpa Tseri and Dawa Temba were working for Asian Trekking and the expedition team named ' Team no limit Everest expedition, 2006' led by Douglas Tumminello of USA.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation expresses deep sorrow of the loss of life in the Khumbu Region.
