Everest 2006: Everest Summits from the North

©EverestNews.com

A source reports to EverestNews.com that a number of Sherpas and Tibetan climbers who were fixing ropes Summited from the North side. Around 6 ... This is a an unconfirmed report at this point. But with over 2500 summits of Everest, the mountain has been done and certainly can be done. For Everest, this is "Sherpa Mountain". Recently we interviewed the great Lakpa Gelu Sherpa, who has twice summited Everest in under 13 hours from BASE CAMP to the Summit. We asked Lakpa Gelu, is Everest was easy for him? He said "easy". We asked him why, "easy"? Because I have been there so many times and done it so many times." More from Lakpa Gelu later... Several Sherpas now have 10 or more Summits of Everest...

It can be debated if Everest is "easy" for the Sherpas. But if the report is correct, and it is unconfirmed, the yellow brick road is in again from the North for the western climbers...

The Koreans and others are expected to attempt soon... Others climbers were seen at high camp.

Everest remains a dangerous mountain with 4 deaths already in 2006. 300 or more summits are expected again in 2006..
