After leaving Base Camp,
Larry Rigsby, member of Team No limits, began his trek thru the Khumbu Valley.
Larry's trek took five days and covered approximately forty to fifty miles -
as he visited several villages on his way to his ultimate destination, the
village of Thame. While in Thame, Larry reported a great visit with Apa
Sherpa's wife and family. In addition, Larry had the opportunity to visit with
some of the family of other Sherpas from Team No Limits. Larry also met
Passang Neru as well as some of his family. Passang Neru was the Sherpa who
was badly injured in the Icefall tragedy.
Larry met with family members
of the two Sherpas, Lhakpa Tseri and Dawa Temba, who were killed in the
Icefall. He had the pleasure of meeting Lhakpa Tseri's wife and daughter as
well as Dawa Temba's parents. Larry said this was a heart warming and healing
experience. Larry has a genuine love for the Sherpa people and said he felt
most honored to spend time in their village. Their warm and sincere welcome
confirmed once again to Larry what great people they are. Larry said that he
is very excited about the Memorial Foundation that is being established to
provide financial support to the families of Lhakpa Tseri and Dawa Temba.
In Katmandu, Larry and Matt
were reunited and spent the last days of this unforgettable journey together.
Both Larry and Matt are expected to arrive back to their home towns today!
Talk to you soon,
Roger Coffey, TNL - Base Camp Manager
