The expedition has several important aspects and goals:
§ The first
team-expedition from Turkey that is going to be recorded under the name of the
country

to the highest point of the world from Turkey
§ The first climb
from Turkey that will be made without supplemental oxygen
§ Scientific
endeavors that will help in explaining some of the many mysteries of the
effects of altitude on human beings
The Everest team is comprised
of mountaineers who had been successful in several high altitude climbs from
Turkey:
§ The team embraces 6
of 9 climbers from Turkey who had climbed over 8000 meters
§ Two of these
climbers are the first female athletes that climbed an 8000er from Turkey
The 2006 Everest Turkish
Expedition is going to take place in Katmandu - Nepal and Tibet between 27th
of March and 10th of June. However the team has started the preparations
months before. These preparations include climbs done in the mountains of
Turkey, trainings in city, performance tests and introductory work to make the
project public. This important event for the Turkish mountaineering history is
going to be documented from the beginning to the end and accommodates amazing
visual opportunities.
