
As per the report of the Liason
Officer, the following three members and one Nepalese Sirdar/Guide of "2007
Korea Lhotse Shar South Face (8400m), Lhotse South Face (8516m) Expedition"
team has successfully climbed Mt. Lhotse Shar (8400 meters) from the South
Face at 6.55 pm on 31 May, 2007.
1. Mr. Um Hong Gil (47
yrs), South Korea.
2. Mr. Sung Ho Byun (37
yrs), South Korea.
3. Mr. Sang Hyeon Mo (33
yrs), South Korea
4. Mr. Pasng Namgyal Sherpa
(34 yrs), Khumjung-3, Solukhumbu, Nepal
The above mentioned
expedition team comprising of 8 members was permitted to climb 8400m. high Mt.
Lhotse Shar from the South Face for the period of 75 days from 23 March, 2007
under the leadership of Mr. Um Hong Gil of South Korea.
Mt. Lhotse Shar South Face is
technically difficult mountain. No previous Mountaineering teams have been
able to reach the summit of Lhotse Shar via the South Face route. This is the
first successful ascent of Lhotse Shar by this route
