Hi EverestNews.com, I want to
publish my opinion about situation around Everest.
Everest is difficult and
dangerous mountain and climbing Everest is a big risk even in good
conditions.
Situation today shows us that
everything is against successful climb in this year. It is possible to make
summit at "any price", but in this nervous situation, expeditions' Leaders and
members have big chance to make a mistake and get in a trouble.
We are discussing that:
-probably Chinese will climb
before 1 May,
- Probably Nepal will let us
climb till C3 or even South Col,
- maybe it is possible to get
some acclimatization on the small peaks and then climb Everest for 3
weeks....
We ask somebody to let
us climb Everest in any case, at "any price".... And during all expedition
period we will think about chance, that Chinese will reach summit later and
don't let us climb to the "Summit of our Dreams"
But If you climb a great
mountain you shouldn't get shame and humiliation in the start of the
expedition and during the whole climbing period.
I organized and was a Leader
of 6 Everest Expeditions and I have enough experience to understand, that this
situation is very danger for success and for the life of climbers.
That is the reason I cancel
my expedition and move it to next 2009 year. All members support me in my
decision and share my point of view. I promised to my members to keep
expedition's money and make expedition next year without any extra payments
from my members.
Tomorrow I'll fly to Katmandu
to support my Sherpas team and give them some money as a support in this
situation.
Best regards,
Alex Abramov
