The famous Priyut of Eleven, a high-altitude refuge on the slopes of Elbrus
will be restored in the nearest future. It was claimed by Vladimir
Strzhelkowsky, the head of State Commitee for Tourism, a close friend of
Vladimir Putin.. There are investors and they has already started to fullfil a
project. A new refuge will have the same historic shape, with a metal core.
But with completly modern inneres. Metal constructions are already charged in
one aircraft factory in the city of Voronezh..
The former refuge was built in late thirties, had more than 100 places. It was
the main overnight point for Elbrus climb. But, unfortunately, Priyut was poor
anti-fire protected and destroyed by fire in august of 1998. As was said a
large Moscow company is ready to invest 5 million EUR in this project. A total
of 23 billion roubles are to be allotted for development of the Mount Elbrus
area, reconstruction of the ski complexes, and new resorts building.
