Update: April 14, 2005 - Chukung-Deboche
After the exhausting journey of yesterday, we have turned
back to Lukla. All of us have felt yesterday's effort and the march has been
easy and relaxed, and we preferred to view the landscapes we had already seen.
In the middle of the trail, in Shomare, we have had the glad surprise to met
the members of the Valencia Expedition who will try to climb Everest by the
South Face. Xavi, Merce and Albert have spent time together with them in 98
in Cho Oyu and they had remembered old times and have made a gross bet: "To
meet again on the summit of Everest". In the little but comfortable lodge
located in Deboche we have found again the green of the trees which we have
not seen in more than a week and, can you believe that this is a wonderful
sensation.
Relaxed and in front of a cup of tea we have made an
assessment of the progress of the expedition, and we feel satisfied because
the process of acclimatization, the main objective of the trekking, has been
completed successfully because none of us has had significant problems during
the ascent and we are physically very good. We would also like to thank all
those people, companies and institutions, especially the City of Esplugues who
have made possible this first part of the project which has ended well.
