Ken on Cho Oyu 2004 |
Update 5/22/2005: Ken is back at ABC after 7 or 8 days up
high. He has phoned his family and will soon be on his way home. He is said to
has made it to 8200 meters, not bad considering his climbing method without
Sherpas.
Earlier News: Some info on independent
climber Ken Hill of Seattle, Wa. from his proud cousin back in Canada. Summits
include: Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Denali & Mt. Cook. In 2004 he climbed more
than six peaks in Ecuador including Cotopaxi & Cayambe, climbed Denali again
and then summited Cho Oyu (Oct. 1st, 2004) without oxygen.
Update: Ken left ABC on the 16th. This is his 7th Day above
ABC. Ken has no Sherpa support and is on his own. Any information on Ken would
be excellent... His family is not worried, and "this is Ken" climbing alone...
But we would all like to see him down at ABC soon..
