Mr and Mrs
Hillary with Lakpa Sherpa and her 15 year old sister who summited
Everest in 2003 with George and Lakpa
Update May 28th, 2005: George and Lakpa are heading up
the mountain from ABC. George, despite
what you might have read elsewhere falsely
is NOT a guide, George is just a climber who likes to take this summer vacation
from his construction business to go climb Everest. He has summited the last 6
years in a row, once without the use of bottled oxygen, something only Sherpas can claim... Lakpa hopes to summit for
the 5th time this spring season. No other woman has summited more
than twice. Lakpa, like George, climbs without guides.
They are again part of the Asian Trekking Group for independent climbers where all
climbers are on their own. George and Lakpa has one Sherpa to help. George has
special plans for this year. Some of the special plans have been accomplished,
but there is still much to do, but not much time left...
Update May 27th 2005: George and Lakpa were still at ABC
yesterday morning. They are again part of the Asian Trekking Group for
independent climbers where all climbers are on their own. George has one Sherpa to
help. Interesting, Lakpa Brother, who has climbed with George and Lakpa the
last 2 or so years is the sirdar of the Russian team. Another one of George
old Sherpa helpers is sirdar of the British commercial team...
