Update June 3, 2005: You are
right, George Dijmarescu is a Mountaineer! While others were struggling up the
mountain, George and Lakpa were already at the summit! Despite the herd of
climbers going up, they were back at high camp by 9AM. That is not 9PM,
but 9AM in the morning. They were back in high camp before most
summited! George 7th summit of Everest in 7 years, one of which was
without the use of bottled oxygen.
Lakpa? She has summited
Everest 5 times. No other woman has summited more than twice. She is very
strong. When on the mountain, Lakpa roots show. Expect big things from her and
George in the future. Their careers as "Mountaineers" are just beginning.
And yes, the "spider"
summited too. One day he will be a sirdar... He will save many western
climbers lives.
