Everest 2005: Norwegian Men's expedition: Turned
back again and coming down...
Update May 19th:
Norwegian Everest2005: One
group of 4 was heading for Camp2 today, but decided to turn back to ABC
because of the weather forecast with heavy winds coming in. All seven (the
remaining out of 10) are going down to Base camp to get some rest, and
hope for a third summit attempt.
Update 5/16/2005: The
Norwegian Men's expedition is back at ABC. It is unclear how far the
climbers got. Rumors say their Sherpas made it to the First Step and fixed the
rope to the ridge. NOTE THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED. Those making early summit
attempt should be prepared to fix rope up high again this year.
One Sherpa is said to have frostbite and will need to leave
the expedition. It is unclear how far the Sherpas could have gotten on their
own. But the Sherpas role in this case is of a worker for others...
