Update:
Hello EverestNews.com, Vojvodinian
expedition "Everest 2005" May 3, 2005 (Tuesday) After 3 days of bad weather we
ended altitude camps (AC), fixed ropes and preparing us for final climbing.
There are 3 camps at 7040 m, 7700 m and 8300 m. Members of expedition will
have physical and psychic preparing in BC. They are waiting for the best time
for final climbing on the top of the World. We hope that the second part of
May will be the best time for our climbing. We are sending the best wishes to
our families and all friends. We shall call them when it is possible.

Acclimatization is finished, climbers are ready! Date: 5/1/2005 - High noon
Vojvodinian expedition "Everest 2005" has finished with acclimatization. Our
boys are ready for final climbing (between May 10th and 15th). Iso Planic and
Goran Ferlan tomorrow will come down from ABC (6400 m) to BC (5170 m) because
they will rest before the last climbing. Andor and Hoselito stay in ABC before
the final upsurge (rise). I have talked with all of them separately because
they congratulated birthday to me. They feel good. We have 200 minutes more of
connection - Zdravko paid for us. Today is orthodox Easter. The day is sunny,
weather is very good. I was at Rongbuk monastery and prayed for our boys and
for good ending of whole the adventure. All equipment for altitude camps is in
C1 (7020 m). Sherpa Dawa will be here tomorrow, I mean that all is prepared
for top of the World. The mood is very good, but I have some troubles with my
stomach. Best wishes to all of you who are with us.
My
congratulations to all who is celebrating orthodox Easter. Miodrag Jovovic,
leader of expedition
Dispatches
Vojvodina is the northern
province of Serbia and Montenegro. It is located in the heart of the Balkans
in Southeast Europe. Although Vojvodina is flat, climbing has become a
tradition. The first Vojvodina climber to scale Mont Blanc was in 1924, since
then they have reached the summits of the highest peaks in South America,
Asia, Europe and Australia. The only peak they are missing is Everest and they
hope to climb to the summit in 2005.
The expedition is being
organized by the Mountaineering Association of Vojvodina. The members of the
team are as follows, Miodrag Jovovic, Milivoj Erdeljan, Goran Ferlan, Andor
Luhovic, Mirjana Vasut, Mirjana Stevanovic, Iso Planic and Hoselito Bite.
