Island Peak summit attempt:
Gav called his office today to
let us know that he and his team are going for a summit attempt tonight.
They are all feeling on great form and looking forward the the challenge
ahead.
Gavin is using this 6189m peak as a 'warm-up' climb. It is a slightly
technical climb, involving a scramble and a rock ridge, to a glacier. Above
this, a steep headwall is followed by an exposed summit ridge.
From the summit they'll catch a glipmse of many Himalayan giants including
the immense south face of Lhotse - the peak that sits beside Everest.
Gav says he will call in again at the beginning of next week
