Earlier Update:
Inaki Ochoa de Olza, from the
Lorpen-Diario de Navarra expedition, has departed today from Pamplona to
Kathmandu to climb the British route on the south face of Shisha Pangma (8.027
meters). Ochoa de Olza, with nine 8.000 + summits, will make the attempt with
the asturian climber Jorge Egocheaga (Everest, Cho Oyu, GI and Nanga Parbat).
They plan to install 14th of September the Base Camp at 5.300 meters. After
that, they’ll put an advanced base camp at 5.600 meters (the beginning of the
wall) and climb until 7.000 meters and then to the summit without fixing ropes
or put tents, in alpine style. This is the second attempt this year for Iñaki
on Shisha Pangma. In March, alone in the normal route, he suffered and
avalanche and decided to stop.
