Update June 2, 2005:

73rd day of the 10 Years of Brazil on Everest Expedition

Brazil on the Top of the World!

WALDEMAR NICLEVICZ AND IRIVAN BURDA CONQUERED EVEREST

The Brazilian climbers Waldemar Niclevicz and Irivan Gustavo Burda conquered the summit of the highest mountain of the world, with 8,848 meters, Everest, on the early morning of this Thursday, June 2002.  The ascent was made by the Nepalese route and the conquest was achieved after 73 days of climbing under the unstable weather of the region.  Waldemar Niclevicz is the only Brazilian to reach the summit of the highest mountain of the world for the second time, besides being one of the few climbers in the world to climb Everest by both sides (Tibet and Nepal). Irivan Burda made his best conquest as a professional climber.

The conquest closes with success the "10 Years of Brazil on Everest" Expedition, whose objective was to commemorate the anniversary of a decade since the Brazilians reached the top of the highest mountain of the world, in 1995 - which was done by Waldemar Niclevicz himself along with Mozart Catao.

Also note: Waldemar Niclevicz met the Brazilians who summited on the North side at the top!
