Bottom of
Fantasy Ridge: it starts with a steep technical climb and then with an
awkward almost horizontal pitch before some elevation is gain.

Dave Watson, Mountain Guide and Everest Summiter:
Hey
EverestNews.com, Today (wed) we left Kathmandu at 7am. The drive was nice and
calm, the road was in much better condition than I remembered it being. No
sign of the Maoists except for a burnt out van. The team drove to the boarder
town Kodari where we had a beer some french fries and then crossed the boarder
into Tibet. The boarder crossing was fast and uneventful. This was a very
nice treat, in 2004 we had to wait hours to cross. Now we are just cruising
around the town trying to find a coffee grinder, two stroke oil for the
generator and some nice big pillows for base camp. We will have dinner at 7pm
and then we may crash early. We stay one night here in Zangmu (2700m) and
then drive tomorrow to Nylam. We will stay two nights in Nylam (3700m) then
drive over Nylam Pass (5200m) and down to Tingri (4200m). Tingri will be our
last stop before reaching Base Camp and we will stay there for two nights as
well. There is new snow here in the hills and only makes me more eager to get
to the mountain. Talk to you soon. Dave
