Update:
GERMAN DAV Summit Club
Gasherbrum 2 Expedition
Dear
EverestNews.com, sorry, our internet equipment did not work in basecamp. My
company sent me your forecast via SMS on my Thuraya telephone. Thanks a lot
for the precise forecast. We took the chance on August 15 th and summited
after 11 hours of path making from camp 4. I had to make the path all on my
own, because we were the only expedition on the mountain. Our high porter from
Pakistan (Mahmad) refused to go higher then camp3. I had 3 clients with me.
Due to high winds one of my clients stopped his ascent at 7700m. The other two
summited together with me at 1pm. The ridge leading to the summit was awfull
windy. G2 summiters are Berthold Honka from Mainz (D), Alexander Mayer from
Wangen (D) and myself, Thomas Laemmle from Waldburg (D). Hans Hindel from
Iggelheim had managed the altitude of 7700m. Pakistani officials told us, that
we did the latest 8000m Summit so far (15th of August).
In the
moment we are in Skardu, waiting for a flight to Islamabad. We hope to reach
Germany on August 25th.
Thank you
very much for your weather forecast
