Petzl, Charlet Moser Sharken
Crampons Review
By the Everest GearGal
|
 |
 |
The Petzl Charlet Sharken
crampon is designed to conquer the most difficult ice and mixed climbing routes.
Weighing in at just 850g, the Sharken is a lightweight and stabile crampon for
high mountain expeditions where every once counts. It is constructed from highly
durable chrome molybdenum steel into a 12-point design, with two flat points in
front. The two front points are
serrated, making these crampons optimal load bearers in snow and soft ice. A
pair of inclined points backs the front points and all lateral points are
separated, which enhances stability and minimizes slipping. The Sarken crampon
has put an end to heel-bail hassles and minimized balling beneath the binding by
integrating the Spirlock binding system.
It is important to note that
the Spirlock binding system was developed for mountaineering boots that have a
welt height of 41mm or less. If your boots welt height is greater then 41mm then
you should consider Petzl Charlet crampons with Sidelocks and Leverlocks. If the
Spirlock binding works for your boot, you’ll be happy in the field, as
adjustments are quick and easy and don’t require any extra tools adding to the
poundage on your back.
