Andrei E. Volkov
summited Everest May 12, 1992 via the standard South East Ridge
route. He was born in Arkhangelsk, Russia in July, 1960. He holds
the official sporting status of master of sports, international
class, snow leopard. He started climbing mountains in 1978. He
summited 7,000m peaks of former USSR 10 times. Volkov graduated
from the Moscow Engineering-Physical Institute where he
specialized in atomic electric power stations. He is the Dean of
Finance and Management at the International Academy of business
and banking,
Togliatti. |
Besides climbing,
Andrei Volkov is enjoys tennis
and mountain skiing. Formerly, he took part in the All-Union Ski
Marathon "The Ski-Track of Russia" (60 km).
Andrei was the deputy
leader of the Russian North ridge K2 expedition in 1996
where Carlos
Buhler, Sergei Penzov and
Igor Benkin reached the Summit. Igor died
on descent.
