The Sherpas of Everest Series: Ang Lhakpa Sherpa

Ang Lhakpa Sherpa summited Everest on May 5th, 1988 via the standard north east ridge route and descended via the standard south east ridge route while on the China-Japan-Nepal Friendship Expedition. His traverse along with a Japanese and a Chinese climber were the first summits from the large China-Japan-Nepal Friendship Expedition. He was born in 1963 and was from Khumjung, Solukhumbu. He summited Everest a second time on May 24th, 1989 on the American expedition led by Pete Athans. Sadly he died on a winter attempt on Cho Oyu on Christmas day 1989.
