 Adventure Consultants Makalu 2001 Expedition

Bruce Hasler is also a mountain guide, Bruce and Bryan work for Adventure Consultants in New Zealand. Bruce is joining the expedition for some extra training while Bryan is part of the National Geographic Television film crew.

Heading our Sherpa staff is Ang Tshering Sherpa who is the Expedition Sirdar, he is assisted at base camp by cooks Dawa Nuru and Dawa Thundu. Lhakpa Dorje Sherpa is the Climbing Sardar. Lhakpa Dorje has been on two expeditions to Makalu and has summitted before. The other Climbing Sherpas are Mingma, Tenzing Gyaltsen and Pema Rinzing.

Hamish Emerson - Hamish is a cameraman and is part of the National Geographic Television film crew. For the duration of the expedition he will be filming at base camp for the 'Extreme Force' documentary.

The itinerary is;

MAKALU - 29 March to 30 May 2001
29 March             Arrive Kathmandu, Nepal
31 March             Final briefing at M.O.T.
1 April                 Fly to Tumlingtar
1-12 April            Trek to Base Camp
14 Apr - 11 May    Establish camps and acclimatize
11-15 May           Rest at Base Camp
15-22 May           Summit Climb
23 May                Clean up and depart BC
23-27 May           Trek to Tumlingtar
28 May                Fly to Kathmandu
30 May                Depart for home
