In speaking with some of the climbers we are supporting on Everest in 2005
last night. Weather forecasts are not needed right now! The upper mountain is
covered with snow, making our "needle in a haystack" hunt for artifacts
impossible at the current time. The climbers had hoped to be on the summit
ridge this week. High winds are now needed to blow the snow off to make a
search practical.
The Chinese are having similar problems in measuring the
mountain. What does this mean for th rest of the climbers? It means all the
summit attempts will be pushed back closer together.
