China Tibet Pakistan GI Expedition 2005: One dead already, several hurt

Update: The first causality is reported when the China Tibet Pakistan GI expedition is on his way from Skardu to Askole, when suddenly rock fall hit their caravan, one of the Chinese members died and two of them seriously inquired.

Col. Manzoor - Vice President and Senior member of Alpine Club of Pakistan rush to Skardu with C130 to help and evacuated the inquired.

Due to late winter in Karakoram, we advice all trekkers and climbers to do extra care while trekking specially on Gondogoro la wear helmet, half crampons, good gaiters.

And consult your local tour operators for further advice.

Earlier Update: The eleven members China Tibet Team is here in Pakistan to attempt Gasherbrum I from normal route. The will join by two Pakistani climber to make it a joint China Tibet Pakistan expedition.

Three out of eleven climber of the China Tibet team are here in Pakistan to make their name in mountain history by climbing their last 8000m Peak GI in the coming days [with the foresummit of Broad Peak, not the Main summit].

They are Mr. Tse Ring Dorji, Mr. Benba Zaxi and RenNa.

Among them Mr. Loze climb 12 out of 14 8000m peaks and remaining peaks are Annapurna and GI. And main summit of Broad peak)

Mr. Sam Drug climb Everest only, Mr. Dra Shi Tsering climb three 8000m peaks including K2, Everest and Broad Peak. 

Mr. Phu Bu Dhundrup climbing  has four 8000m peak in his name Everest, K2, Broad Peak and Cho Oyu. 

Whereas in Pakistani team Mr. Nisar Hussain of Sadpara has four 8000m meters peaks to his name Nanga Parbat, K2, GII and GI and the second Pakistani accompanying the expedition is Mr. Nazir Hussain Sadpara has only one peak to his name GII. Though Mr. Nisar Hussain Sadpara claim he climb all five 8000m peaks in Pakistan, however the fate of Broad Peak is not yet officially confirm. 

This very strong team of 11 China Tibet and 2 Pakistani members will start their march towards GI around 23 to 24 June, 2005 from Skardu. 

They have approximately 60 days total in Pakistan. They will climb via normal route. Capt. Athar is accompanying them as a Liaison Officer.
