Update 9/11/2007: Weather for K2, NP, GBI/II and Broad Peaks
The Window will continue for another 4/5 Days
The weather is now expected to remain STABLE till weekend,
Upper winds are normal but with NW direction making the temps low. No stormy
conditions expected to develop in this week. Climbers should avail/enjoy this
window which is likely to last for another 4 to 5 days. Hanif.
Earlier: Weather ALERT K2, NP, GBI/II
and Broad Peaks
High Winds likely to grip, Be
Careful in Next 4 Days
Earlier Prediction: Very
Strong/Cold Upper Winds (+80 knots, NW) expected to grip K2 and adjoining
areas after on Thursday.
Strong North-Westerly winds
are heading towards K2 and adjoining Peaks and likely to grip on Wednesday
evening now. These strong winds will prevail during next 4 to 5 days producing
occasional snow/blizzard/poor visibility. The Climbers are advised to remain
CAREFUL from Wednesday afternoon/evening.
There is chance of
Thunderstorm near by K2 during next 3 to 4 days, and the Risk of isolated
“Avalanche” cannot be ruled out.
Hanif.
Earlier: Weather for K2, NP, GBI/II and Broad Peaks
Weather likely to improve gradually but slowly
Unfortunately, no significant relief is expected in the
weather, the current conditions will continue during next few days. However
the Trend of local build-ups/fog/poor visibility is towards improvement now,
but gradually and slowly. No STORM expected in next 5 days, some clear/short
intervals likely to appear daily with same wind speed/direction. Climbers
should avail this opportunity (next 5 days), because Very Strong/Cold Upper
Winds (+80 knots, NW) expected to grip K2 and adjoining areas after 5 days (on
Thursday). Hanif.
Earlier: Weather for K2, NP, GBI/II and Broad Peaks
Thu/Fri slightly better, then strong winds likely to grip.
No significant stormy conditions are in sight during next
few days. But 100% clear weather is not possible because some local
build-ups/poor visibility likely at times.
Thursday and Friday are slightly better, then strong winds
expected to grip K2 and other peaks on Friday evening. Climbers are advised to
take care on Sat/Sun/Mon because the upper winds will be very strong, from SW
making weather bad/hard for short intervals. Hanif.
