 K2
2008: Mike Farris check in, The rescue of Marco Confortola Update
|
 |
 |
There is currently a rescue underway on the Abruzzi to rescue an Italian
named Marco Confortola. At this moment 3pm Pak time he is in Camp II with
George D [Dijmarescu] , 2 Pak HAPS, and probably two Sherpas. The Italians are
coordinating this rescue.
No other rescues are underway on K2. All other personnel are accounted for.
You also already know that the two Dutch were flown out this morning. Mike
[Farris].
Editorial Note: Marco was bought down to camp one, today hopefully he will
get to base
camp. The weather has turned bad... As far as the reports that the American
are not helping, more crap reporting on the web.
Earlier: A fund has been set up with the help of Nazir
Sabir of the Alpine Club of Pakistan and many others including the Mountain
Fund to help the families of the 2 Sherpas and 2 Pakistani climbers who died
in this tragedy. Please consider helping ...
Note to Americans: The Mountain Fund is a U.S. I.R.S 501(c)(3)
Charitable Organization Tax ID# 20-2570273 so your donation is tax deductible.
Note to news companies and webmasters: you can copy this
link to your web site and/or the code to donate to your web site, if you need
help e-mail

Much more in the coming days on these brave climbers who
gave their lives in support of others.
