2 August, 2009: First Bulgarian double-header in highest mountain
Bulgarian Boyan Petrov summited Gasherbrum II (8035m) yesterday (August 01,
2009) after solo attack. He descended to Base camp today. Boyan rested at the
foot of the Gasherbrum Massive after departure of his colleagues Nikolay
Petkov, Doychin Boyanov and Nikolay Valkov from BC on August 30.
Nikolay Petkov, Doychin Boyanov, Nikolay Valkov and Boyan Petrov ascended

PS.: The ascents on Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II of Bulgarian Boyan
Petrov in this season may be are the first double header of insulin-dependent

Earlier: Bulgarians Nilolay Petkov, Doychin Boyanov, Boyan Petrov, Nikolay Valkov
have summited Gasherbrum 1 on Sunday morning, July 26, 2009 with Veikka
Gustafson (Finland) and Kazuya Hiraide (Japan). They started climbing at 00.30
LT and reached the summit at around 08.00 o’clock. At present Bulgarians are
in Camp 3 (7070m). They’ll descent do BL tomorrow. Peter
Earlier: July 18, 2009: Bulgarians Nikolay Petkov, Doychin Boyanov, Boyan Petrov and
Nikolay Valkov are in the Camp 3 (7100m ) at Gasherbrum I. Petkov, Boyanov,
Petrov and Valkov will walk to summit tomorrow (Sunday, July 19) if the

Earlier: This summer Bulgarian climbers Nikolay Petkov, Doychin Boyanov, Boyan
Petrov and Nikolay Valkov will attempt to ascent Gasherbrum I (8068m) and
Gasherbrum II (8035m) in Pakistan. The team is in the base camp. Foursome will
walk to camp 2 (6500m) in Monday if the weather conditions will be stabled.
The team on GI and GII: Nikolay Petkov (51 years), leader,
Mount Everest (via West Ridge in 1984, by Chinese route from North in
2004), Dhaulagiri, Nanga Parbat. Doychin Boyanov: Mount Everest (without
oxygen, 2004), Nanga Parbat. Boyan Petrov:
Knan Tengri (6995m) in Tien-Shan, peak Lenin (7134m) in Pamir, Aconcagua,
McKinley, Kilimanjaro.
Nikolay Valkov had climbed Tetnuld (4974m) and Kazbek (5047m) in Caucasus.
