What is happening in Pakistan; you might be interested to know the political and law-and-order and tourism situation in Pakistan.
 

Swat Operation against Taliban; after the success of Swat operation by the Pakistan Army which start in July, 2008, when resident (375,000) of Mingora city and over all Swat valley 10 million forced to fled to other part of Pakistan. Now all of them return to Swat valley due to peace and stability in the region.  

Since the last few weeks, the ongoing military operation in the South Waziristan tribal agency boarder with Afghanistan has been dominating news headlines around the world for a variety of reasons.

Operation Rah-I-Nijat (Path to Salvation) achieved global attention not only because of the rapid successes that the Pakistan Army managed to achieve in what were expected to be tough fights. Pakistan Army is claiming the operation will finish quite earlier then expected.

In other part of Pakistan which includes Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi As the news of success are coming from Waziristan there is peace and stability is getting better and better, law and order agencies are working hard to eliminate the helping hand for Taliban among the society and keeping them behind the bars. With the help of citizen on voluntary basis Pakistan Government has started Citizen Security and Vigilance Committee to keep eye on masses.

Gilgit Baltistan; The recent government of Pakistan People Party has given more independent to the peoples of Gilgit Baltistan, and declaring the local government as the semi-provincial government status. Recently there were general elections in Gilgit Baltistan (Gilgit, Baltistan Shigar, Skardu, Khaplu, Hunza, Shimshal, Gizar, Chilas, Diamir and Astore) in which all the major political parties of Pakistan participated and majority of seats won by Pakistan People Party and until the end of November, 2009 the new elected government will form its government in Gilgit Baltistan. 

50% and 90% Peak fee discount for mountains in Pakistan; In a letter to the Government of Pakistan, The Pakistan Association of Tour Operators has requested to continue 50% peak discount for Baltistan Area and 90% peak fee discount for Gilgit Area. 

Guide and High Altitude Porters Course has been started in Passu in upper Hunza with the financial support of Karakoram Trust. Alpine Club of Pakistan is conducting the course.
