The main idea of GYS is to promote peace
and protection of the environment through different
people working together in order to do a high walk or
climb. World peace is not a utopian dream but something
that we can all work to achieve. We can use sport as a
tool for peace and international understanding. If your
group is organizing youth events between January and
September next year, and you want to support the GYS
then your event (or events), please submit your event to
us at
mail2006@everestnews.com for consideration to be
added to the official GYS calendar.
Already several
groups around the world have expressed an interest in the Global Youth Summit,
and the former President of Switzerland Mr Adolf Ogi, who is Special Adviser
to the United Nations Secretary – General on Sport for Development and Peace,
has given his support to the Global Youth Summit. We want you to participate
as well!
