Maoist Suspends Extortion 2/17/2003
After the cease-fire
called by both the Maoists rebels and the government
of Nepal, Maoists supremo Prachanda issued a directive
on February 16 to stop extortion and 'coercive'
donations from the Nepalese and the International
Tourists. This directive has been issued in the
interest of public for smoothen the much awaited peace
talk which is going to begin very soon. It has been
alleged that Maoists had been resorted to extortion
despite of cease-fire and call for peace.
The seven-year old
insurgency has finally come to a halt after cease-fire
that is expected to materialize into permanent peace
after the talk held between the government and
