18 climbers feared dead in
Western Nepal avalanche, Details
are few, but the worst is feared...Earlier Update:
Reuters is reporting "rescue
workers are searching for seven French and 11 Nepali climbers who went missing
four days ago after an avalanche in western Nepal, rescue officials said on
Sunday."
Other sources are telling
EverestNews.com it is unclear at this point what has happened, but that the
climbers are out of contact.
A rescue helicopter did find 4 Nepali
porters. One porter was left behind to help find the others and 3 were bought
back to Pokhara. Rescue operations are underway... The
French expedition had planned to climb 6,120 meter Mt. Kanguru.
According to Reuters the
"avalanche tore through the base camp of the 6,981-meter (22,903-feet) Kang
Guru peak."
