AT THE NATIONAL MOUNTAINEERING

This one day symposium with
lectures and discussion opportunities is open to all interested Sports
climbers and Mountaineers with or without medical knowledge. Speakers include
an international line up of experts, all chosen for their clear presentations
in English, including:

Christian Schlegel (Germany) on Sports Climbing injuries and training, Dr
Buddha Basnyat (Nepal) on Medical Facilities in Nepal, Dr Henrick Jessen
(Denmark) on the 1996 Everest accidents and frostbite, Patrick Peters
(Luxembourg) on Orthopaedic Problems problems in Mountaineers (especially
knees), Dr Bruno Durrer (Switzerland) on Hpothermia and crevasse rescue, Dr
David Hillebrandt (UK) on Occupational Health Problems of International
Guides, Ed Douglas (UK) on Dangers of Commercial Charity Fundraising trips to
Altitude, Dave Binney (UK) discussion group on Sports Climbing Medicine. Ian
Buck-Barret (UK) on an Overview of Analgesia for use in the Hills and Dr Jim
Milledge (UK) as evening speaker on Historic Background to UK Mountain
Medicine,
There will also be short
presentations on the UK/UIAA/University of Leicester Diploma of Mountain
Medicine and its advisory service to mountaineers, on the UK frostbite advice
and treatment service and the MAD advice service for Diabetic climbers.
Target audience are all
active mountaineers and climbers especially those involved in guiding and
instruction in the UK and abroad, commercial and private expedition climbers
and organisers, competitive sports climbers, mountain rescue personnel.

A cold
weather, high altitude double boot for extreme conditions The Olympus
Mons is the perfect choice for 8000-meter peaks. This super lightweight
double boot has a PE thermal insulating inner boot that is coupled with
a thermo-reflective outer boot with an integrated gaiter. We used a
