Cho-Oyu 2007 Expedition Begins!
8/28/2007
Hello everyone, Thanks for joining us on our first Cybercast of Alpine Ascents
Cho Oyu expedition 2007. For the past week the Sherpa and guide staff have
been busy working on packing and logistics over in Kathmandu, Nepal. The boys
will finish packing and drive overland in a couple of days and meet the team
in Tingri, Tibet. The climbing team arrived today. Most from Beijing, one from
Kathmandu and another that took the train from Beijing but has been delayed a
bit. The crew seemed alittle tied so the evening ended up short. The team will
spend a couple of days touring Lhasa and acclimatizing to its altitude of over
12,000ft. Tomorrow we will visit the Potala palace and summer residence of the
Past Dalai Lamas. This season on Cho Oyu sounds like there will be over 50
expeditions on the mountain, so it will be a little tight. The climbing crew
looks great with alot of big mountain experience ranging from Denali,
Aconcogua, Everest, and other large mountains of the world. So we have a long
expedition in front of us, keep watching the cybercast for our adventures on
Cho Oyu. We will cybercast soon, Good Night. Eric Larson
